They get home and this is what they do. Hah.
Now, I don't know that the feather thing is a custom in their culture, or whether it's part of a family tradition of one of theirs, or it's their own thing, but I can tell you that if you see them wearing a feather of each other's in their crest, then they're married. I figure it's easier to see that and know than have to guess whether their bands are on their ankles (which, in small sketches I never seem to draw). Also, it's just plain cute.
